MG ZR Problems

Was driving car put it in to 4 gear then the engine stopped and now will not fire battery ok

Unable to get rear wiper to work, have checked fuses, have had motor off and it works when given power, have changed stalk. There is two live wires going into motor, all wires on stalk appear to be in order. ??????????????????????????????...
