2004 MG ZR rear wiper not working

Unable to get rear wiper to work, have checked fuses, have had motor off and it works when given power, have changed stalk. There is two live wires going into motor, all wires on stalk appear to be in order.

Check for broken wires at top of tailgate where they pass through .(under rubber sheath ? )
