2004 MG ZR car not starting, engine management light on.

i recently change the head gasqet of my car after it failed.
i also change thermostat, new plugs,oil filter and put new engine oil.
i set the whole engine back.

when i put the key on to start the car, , it s not firing. basically it s not starting.

i plug an obd2 in but its read:

fault: 01 which mean there is one fault
pend: 00 which mean N/A. it does not give a code of the error.

what can make this car not working????? please help...

Check all the basics first , getting fuel / spark . Then check if timing has been set up correctly after head job .

check all connections also did you mark cam pulleys before removing if you have got them mixed up on re-fitting engine will not start timing will be out 180 degrees

thanks guy for your solutions, i am going to try them asap.

i set up all the timing line right, the way they should be.
camshafts in and exaust position , straight pointing to each other.
crank shat on it right position.

i m going to check the ignition coils in case they are out of order.
