2002 MG ZR kangaroo jump

Car: MG ZR
Year: 2002
Variant: ..1.4
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
While driving my car at any speed, the car seems to be kangaroo jumping while driving. Also I've noticed a lack of power the same time. I have been told its the coil pack. Has anyone else had this? And what was the cause?

Also I have recently noticed a whining noise while driving. It only seems to be happening when I select 5th gear, and gets louder the faster I go. Any help would be great. Thanks.

May well be coil pack / leads or plugs ,very common .

If you are only getting the noise in 5th , sounds like trans / diff fault . Could check oil level of transmission .

I changed the coil pack earlier as I heared it could be that and also changed the plugs but seems to be no different. Could it be a blockage in the fuel filter?

And how would I go about checking the oil level in the gearbox? I ain't no mechanic but like to have a go lol.

It may be a fuel fault. Replace fuel filter but also check coolant level

Ok thanks, will check that soon as.

Do you know how I would check gearbox oil level by any chance?
