2002 MG ZR miss fire

While I put my foot on the accelerator the car will rev but it seems as if its miss firing. While the car is just idling it doesn't seem to have this problem. Also while driving the car will jump.
Could this have anything at all to do with any fuel related problems? As I have changed the coil pack... new plugs, air filter ect.
Any help on this would be much appreciated as its driving me mad

Check cyl compressions .

If compressions down , could be head gasket or valves .Quite a big job .
