Renault Laguna Thermostat Problems

Temp gauge only rises a quarter when hot. Heating only warm. Changed the thermostat. Made no difference.

thought the problem was with the ratitor thermostat, had this changed, any suggestions, please remember am a poor esex girl, simple and cheep please!!!!!
