2017 Hyundai i10 gear box selector

Car: Hyundai i10
Year: 2017
Variant: 1.0
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
I have had 2 repairs on my gear box but the issues are the same and I was told it could be a gear selector problem. Stiff in 1st year hard to move into 3rd gear and can take several attempts to get reverse gear

Dont know what was done on your gearbox on two repairs , whether it was warranty or not but they dont seem to have fixed what they should have if the same fault . Could be shift cables / selector mechanism or possibly the clutch .

1st repair was there was a problem with 3rd gear. Was told gear box was sent to be reconditioned it wss refitted but there was then a problem with the brakes. 2nd repair I was having problems again with gears. Had no 4th gear was changing from 3rd to 5th. Took car to different mechanic. I left and stopped and was unable to get any gear. So again gear box repair. The advice from the second mechanic was to sell the car. I was then told about the gear box selector. Don't know if that is the problem or if it's the clutch or something else. I have been told by a third mechanic that the car needs to be looked at to find out what the problem is. Despite the 2 repairs I am still having problems changing gears

There can be problems with Hyundai gear boxes but you seem to have been unfortunate in the work you have had done and paid for . You would have been better getting a replacement gearbox with a full warranty . Going to different mechanics doesn't help you either as each can blame the others work .Car needs checked to verify where the fault lies , be it g/ box , linkage or clutch or both . Hope you have better luck in choice of garages / mechanics than before . Might be worth checking if any local , gearbox specialist who give a full warranty on repairs

Thank you for the advice on what to do about the problems with my car. Both repairs were paid for. They were not cheap and I did get a 3 month warranty on 1st repair but no warranty on 2nd repair which was more expensive than the 1st

Crazy paying good money and only getting a 3 month warranty and then none for the other job , But it's easy for me to say , you have had very poor service like often happens nowadays .

I would agree about service but it seems that its very hard to get a good mechanic. The 1st repair I did get a receipt when I paid the bill. With the 2nd repair it was cash only and I probably should have said no I also did not get a receipt or warranty for the 2nd repair. Despite asking for one.
