2012 Vauxhall Meriva gears sticking

I have an automatic Vaxhall Meriva. Occasionally it seems to struggle changing gear. There doesn't seem to be a pattern with this. knocking the car into neutral works, or sometimes it just fixes itself.

I only passed my test a month ago, so praying it's an easy fix. Any advice would be much appreciated

Sometimes getting the transmission oil changed helps with this type of problem but so many possible causes , may needed trans scanned for fault codes if that does not fix it .
