car not changing gear when it should.
had been told that the gearbox ecu may be the problem and was a plug and play fix but dont know where to locate it on this model.
can i be sure this is the problem? , could it be hydraulic oil?

have you checked the transmission oil level its easy if it has a dipstck most autos of that age do ,check it with engine running.if it dont have a dipstick it can probably be checked with a bung on the side of the gearbox (engine not running),but some are now sealed and need no maintenance

It could be the gearbox filter located in the sump easy diy and cheap £50-£60 drain gbox oil remove sump and you will see the filter .It is recomended to change filter at 100.000 miles.Get filter from mercs but get transmisson oil from a motor factor its cheaper. This sorted my problem on my 2001 E230 wich would not move when driven for about half a mile
