2010 Vauxhall Corsa buzzing sound and back screen wiper not working

when starting up engine a buzzing noise occurs
when pushing up the wiper switch then with a slight flick the noise ceases but the wiper still does not work.

Depends where the buzzing is coming from , could be a relay . From what you say , sounds like switch faulty and needs replaced .Need to firstly test if you are getting power at rear wiper motor

Yes it was working before.
Also the buzzing noise is coming from behind the back wiper. Can you tell me how to test if we are getting power through.

You need to strip boot / tailgate interior cover and check for power at motor with a volt meter or test lamp . Another thing to check is for damage to wiring at top of tailgate where it passes through to inside (usually in rubber sheath )
