2002 Renault Scenic front screen wipers not working

Today I jumped in the car and the window wipers worked at first, than stopped. Without the engine running I have moved the switch and I can hear a clonking noise as if the motor is working and something is loose, but not sure how to gain access to the area around the motor

Most wiper acess is either by removing the plastic scuttle and wiper arms or from under the bonnet and removing the top part of the bulkhead, tbh it should be obvious which is needed, can you see anything there the vents to see whats come adrift, if it's the wiper arms you can buy new plastic ball sockets or arms quite cheaply these days,
