2008 Renault Modus Problems

Hello , just got this, the boot opens with rear boot opening button, but when pressing the key the lights flash on the car and I hear a tiny click in the front like a relay, but the latch does not work, any ideas appreciated thankyou

went out the other night at a set of lights a driver pulled up along side of me ,and siad i had no rear lights on.

The light just came on and will not go out even with ignition key removed and car locked. My solution remove bulb so battery does not go flat
