Renault Clio power steering becomes heavy and speedometer cuts out

Just to provide moral support. I have a 2002 Clio, 1.2, which does exactly the same. Speedo cuts out and then comes back at some time later on and the PS is heavy too (no leaks and reservoir full). Scratching my head.

Check the VSS ( vehicle speed sensor / wiring ) . provided that year is not a speedo cable
