Having bought my car 4 months ago from the first day it whined when I reversed and now it is getting worse - took it back to the MG garage who said it was a fault with the manufacture of the clutch plate so no point in replacing it, they wouldn't budge on this.

That's crazy if it's faulty and needing fixing . Get on to MG customer services and see what the can do about getting it resolved .

If it's a whine I would have thought it was more a transmission fault than a clutch fault . Never known a clutch to whine and would be interested in how this occurs as always willing to learn something new .

Although my car is still under the 6 months waranty they say I would have to pay to replace it and there is no point as its a design fault and would happen again. I have had so many minor faults with this car, i.e. could open petrol cap, door would close, phone charger didn't work - so annoying although they have fixed these they won't budge on the clutch, I really wish I hadn.t got rid of my Suzuki Vitara which was faultless.

It's not a car that I would recommend as there seem to be many unsatisfied owners and poor reports / reviews on that vehicle . Hard to suggest what to do next other than get shot of it for something else if possible .

Hello, I would be keen to hear if you ever got any further with this problem? I have similar issue with my 72 plate ZS, it whines mostly in 1st gear or reverse and more notably on a gradient. We have had our car in the garage several times recently and MG response is that it is 'MG harmonies'.

Been no update since posting (5 months ago) " 'MG harmonies'. Never heard of any such excuse with any make of car . If not getting satisfaction get on to MG customer services or even try another dealership with your complaint
