Jaguar XK150 xk 150 overdrive not working

Variant: FHC
Model Year: 1958

Has always worked then doesn’t. Have checked  overdrive switch is working ok with power going to the solenoid .Solenoid acts when switched on but overdrive doesn’t come in .??
