2007 Volkswagen Golf steering locking & engine cutting out

My steering locks & engine cuts out when driving. The steering light is also on orange on the dash board. Can anyone tell me what the exact problem is and how to fix it. I have had a brand new alternator and battery put in the past also. I would like someone to get back to me asap. Thanks

You need to get it scanned for fault codes to see what is triggering the fault / light , You could check your battery voltage first , even though you replaced it " in the past " , also same with alternator
