2012 Vauxhall Vivaro auto gearbox does not change down sometimes from 4th to 3rd

Sometimes when driving on the motorway in 4th gear I let go of the accelerator to allow the van to slow and expect it automatically down change to 3rd. The 4th gear is deselected and tries to reselect and it just slips. If I select it manually it works fine.

I just like to add that the check gearbox light comes on when this happens
