2001 Volvo V70 auto gearbox

Intermittent problem with my gearbox. Now and again (when driving slowly ie 20 to 25mph in traffic) the gear change basically wont for about 15 to 20 seconds and then bang it changes with a bang and allot of force. when I press the accelerator nothing happens and after 15 to 20 seconds I shoot off like a rocket, any ideas..

had this with a S80. gearbox selector solenioids faulty. and or ecu needs refering to a auto gearbox specialist or volvo...
