Renault Kangoo Engine Oil Problems

my renault kangoo makes a knocking noise as i start to go up a hill otherwise it runs ok

BLACK SMOKE, ROUGH IDLE SOMETIMES, CHUGGING AT LOW REV WHEN DRIVING,FOUND HOLE IN FUEL PIPE COMMING UP FROM TANK TO FILTER,REPAIRED, BUT STILL SAME PROBLEM

when i start engine there is a rattling noise i think it may be the tappets r loose is this a big job to fix and can i carry on driving it until i get it fixed

I was driving when it suddenly cut out, battery light and stop light came up on dash. It will not start now, just attempting to turn over. light will turn on and not dimming. Suspect alternator or Fuel filter?
