Peugeot 406 Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) Problems

Driving along as normal when all of a sudden the car developed a sudden loss of power even if i put my foot all the way down on the accelorater pedal i can only achive 50mph going down hill.

Engine starts and operates normal but cuts out, revs drop and there is no throttle when running instantly or for one or two seconds.
