2000 Peugeot 406 loss of power

Driving along as normal when all of a sudden the car developed a sudden loss of power even if i put my foot all the way down on the accelorater pedal i can only achive 50mph going down hill.

Do you have an engine light on?
It could be in limp mode

If Petrol Check MAF senser it could also be the cat so check cat or its sensers on the exguhst pipe
