2012 Peugeot 308 dpf fluid topped up, regeneration done but engine is running very rough

The DPF warning light came on, the fluid was low and was topped up. The mechanic completed a forced regeneration but on doing so the engine cut out. Now the engine runs rough like an old diesel dumper and lurches and feels like a its not getting all the fuel it should. There are no warnings at all and no faults detected.

Sounds as if the forced regeneration failed . With the engine noise , check level and condition of engine oil If the regeneration is unsuccessful it's possible the extra fuel injected into the cylinders will not burn and will have drained into the sump.
