I've got a 208, when in traffic stop/ start, as I pull away I get what can only be described as a rear end shunt, there's a loud bang and a lose of drive, a message comes up sayin engine problem, this is the second time it's happened both in traffic, the car was recovered and like a miracle the gears returned, so what is causing this

If scanned with proper equipment you should be able to retrieve stored fault codes that will then enable you to rectify fault

It has been scanned like you said, the code it has generated does not give the specific location of the fault, what is happening when in traffic something gets too hot and it shuts down, I'm still non the wiser
