2000 Renault Scenic automatic gearbox fault ?? car drives in reverse but not forward

Hi there, we have a problem with our auto scenic. No warning lights. We cannot drive forward but we can reverse. The power is there and it wants to move but it just wont. We have talked to a few mechanics and have come to the conclusion of a gearbox fault. If anybody can help. We have priced up a reconditiond box which is over £1000....but would be alot happier as we cant afford it if any one has any suggestions. My husband is a hgv mechanic so knows his way around an engine but not so much a gearbox. Thanks

Need to get it scanned to see what fault is . Could also contact any good auto. trans specialist in area for advice , usually some in local Yellow pages .

have you checked the transmission fluid level?

we cant get the gearbox out til the weekend, would appreciate all different suggestions so we can check many things. Thanks
