2002 Peugeot 206 smoking from engine??

My wifes old car has been sat on the drive for approx 3 months, as we could'nt sell over the xmas period, I needed to jump start it but once running again, the stop light came on, checked oil (low), topped up the oil and started again, smoke started to come from just in front of the oil filler cap (not sure what the part is called i am no mechanic), just before i turned the engine off to look into it i noticed the the small orange engine light had come on. At present i have done nothing,battery still very low so won't start without jump leads, we really need to sell the car as it is just taking up space on the drive, but don't want to sell a dud, so would be very very grateful for some advice in what to do next

Are you sure you did not spill any oil on the exhaust heat shield when you were topping it up, this could be the cause of the smoke, the light could have something to do with the low battery voltage. I would charge the battery, start the car and let it warm up and see if the smoke disappears.

Just stick it on "gumtree" and be honest,it's sold as seen.
You could spend a lot of cash and for what?
The cars surplus to requirements.
Your not a trader.
Any genuine buyer will be happy to pay less on the chance of sorting it out for themselves.
The phrase "sold as seen" has a lot of bad press,but priced accordingly you'll attract the right buyer.
Like I said,be honest.
Your not taliking huge ammounts for an 02 plate anyway,even if it was pristeen.
You could spend a lot of cash and for what?
