1955 Jaguar XK140 tachometer failure

Car: Jaguar XK140
Year: 1955
Variant: DHC
Tachometer was reading correctly then read zero briefly with engine idling then jumped into life with blip of throttle. Now stopped altogether at just above zero.

Could possibly be the rev counter adapter but head also is a possibility , similar to these . Hope it's just the former

Thank you for response. I don’t know where the adapter goes in the drive train to head but I disconnected drive from back of tachometer and found inner rotated when engine running. So that narrows down to the head, I think. Would you agree? Your help is greatly appreciated!

Provided the end of the cable is not rounded , looks like you have the more expensive fix of the head unfortunately
