2013 Hyundai i10 eps light comes on and steering is hard

eps light comes on also while it is on the steering gets very heavy .been to mechanic several times they dont know what the cause is .if i switch engine off it seems to be ok again goes a few days and happens again !

Almost sure that year of car will have EPAS ( electric power assisted steering ) It means if the battery is low or the alternator are faulty you lose the power steering . Get both your battery and alternator LOAD tested , simple 5 min test . If not that , EPAS may be on its way out .

Usually quite expensive , but may be the battery or alternator which is not as bad .If PAS you might have a Power Steering Specialist garage in your area who would give you a price and be cheaper than dealership .
