Citroen ZX Problems

Car won't start and neutral wire to battery is very hot

Battery replaced. Ignition ON, security code entered and green light ON, ignition selected to start and no action. Car has been rocked in gear to confirm starter not jammed. All other systems operate.

This only seems to be a problem in the mornings. It will start and run for a few minutes, albeit a bit on the lumpy side ( but it has never been good in the cold), then cuts out and will not restart again. Going back to it later in the day,...

Problem arose suddenly, went to start my car this morning and the engine would not turn over. Instead I heard a ticking noise. I have noticed this ticking sound whilst driving in the last week.
