Volvo V50 possible cam shaft sensor

just got towed home from aa posted other day about car just cutting out on here i checked all fuses like you said all good aa diagnistic machine came up with camshaft sensor so he towed me home he also told me make sure all teeth on timing belt is ok nine missing so i have checked timing belt all good all teeth on it so hasebt jumped he couldent get car started before he towed me so does a bad camshaft sensor stop car from starting i will replace tomoz or could it be more than that any help be good ty

A faulty cam sensor can cause non start and also cutting out .
