2006 Volkswagen Caddy gear selection.

Can only get 2nd and 3rd and reverse easily,1st and 4th I can get if forced into gear but 5 keeps trying to jump out of gear, so not sure if it's the gearbox or the selector.

Could be either or both , check for wear / adjustment firstly
