hi,my problem is that it is hard to get 1st and 2nd gear without lifting the gear stick as if i was about to select reverse, please help cheers.

Check the rubber bushes on the gear linkage before doing any expensive repairs, this is a cheap fix, I had problems getting 5th and thats all it was
