i had a gearbox fitted a couple of days ago and now the traction control light comes on and the car drives like a bag of nails and i cant turn it off on the switch,i turned the ignition off and then the alternator light came on and i lost my power stearing and after about 5 mins of driving it went back to normal then a bit later it done it again
what i want to know is the traction worked off the alternator because i dont want to buy a new 1 if it dont resolve my problems

Almost sure the sensor is part of the hub assy and and can only be replaced as a complete unit . Could check wiring / connecting lead.

With the gearbox being replaced , make sure earth wire from engine / gearbox to body is o.k.

so do you not think the alternator has anything to do with the traction control as they both started at the same time,i will check in the morning with the earth leads thanks

Check the wiring / connector to alternator , may have been disturbed .

i you have electrohydraulic power steering on your car then check the main power feed to fusebox in engine bay and the earth wire on the battery terminal for the power steering pump,also check the charge rate of the alternator to eliminate that

All Vauxhall Zafiras from 98 on, had electrio hydraulic power steering EHPS that is why it's affected when alternator fails .
