can anyone help.....the car wont start or turn over just makes a whirring noise when i try!

Noise sounds like starter spinning ,might be flat battery . Could try jump start or charge battery if flat . If not that , check starter .

try taking starter motor out and cleaning it out with brake cleaner and bench test it to check operation

thanks for that pal....just had teh aa out and they reckon its the starter motor...although everyine else thinks its the timing belt!!!

has the timing belt ever been changed on the car?if not then would strongly recommend you get that done.

i have the car booked in for a timing belt...i hope it has been done before though as its on 118k!!!
