2003 Vauxhall Zafira problem with zafira

Car: Vauxhall Zafira
Year: 2003
Variant: 1.6
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi

On a trip out yesterday, the car cut out and lost power steering and thus the ability to steer and the alternator light came on with the exhaust emmision and oil pressure light (and the battery and oil light). It seemed to haapen when stopping and starting and getting into lower gears. It happened 3 times in 70 miles. Before it cur out, I could feel it under my feet on the accelerator.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Many possible causes , best to get a diagnostic scan carried out and see what shows .

car trouble - if you have no visible oil leaks externally then check the oil is`nt leaking into cooling system indicating a possible head gasket failure, are you getting any excessive smoke from exhaust?

"car trouble "

Heard a lot about that engine using oil as you describe , but never heard of a definitive answer . Came across this which might be worth checking .

this has been mentioned on previous post for the z16xep engine ( p = twin port )

the breather from rocker cover to inlet ,suffers from a valve breaking

so instead of a limited amount of vacuum being applied ,full vacuum is present .

the cheapest way is to cut and block the breather to the vacuum and fit a atmospheric breather filter to the rocker outlet .

this will at least prove the point and then if the customer so wishes you can go on and spend a couple of hundred quid replacing rocker cover and modified vent valve .

Hope this helps .

my zafira is leaking water through the panoramic roof. should this not be covered by the 3 year warranty. my car is not even 3 years old.
