Hi, my car is idling at 1800 when cold, and only drops to 1250 when hot, i was advised to block the egr valve but it made no difference. i can't find any vac leak, i am wondering could it be the idle valve but i don't know where this is located. any help greatly appreciated.

Many Vauxhalls need the idler reset after a battery is changed or run flat.
But you do need Vaux software to do this.

Could be engine coolant temp sensor faulty and sending incorrect data to ECU

hi try disconnecting the throttle body then start the car it should rev at about 2500 rpm . Leave it running for about 30 to 50 seconds then turn the car off plug the throttle body back in and restart the car .That will reset the throttle body..
