2004 Vauxhall Zafira recurring running problem

Variant: 1.8 petrol auto

the car starts and runs fine then the powersteering stops working the brake warning seat belt and traction control lights come on the alternator stops charging and the car goes into get me home mode then after stopping the car I have to jump start it and then the car runs as if there was never a problem no codes come up on the computer I have had the alternator and battery check they are both fine

If you have had the battery and alternator LOAD tested and both o.k , could be instrument cluster fault .

Does sound like an intermittantly charge issue with your alternator.

I don't understand how the instrument panel could cause this

In theory it,s not an instrument panel anymore ,it,s a module which communicates with other modules on the vehicle via binary codes ,If that module is not communicating for whatever reason ,then the other modules on the network can not see it and therefore register a communication error or throw up a fault with another module.complex pieces of kit car,s now ,virtually a mobile computer.and that,s just a basic explanation.

i would check wiring on charging circuit but the fact your losing power and steering etc and then have to jump start vehicle definately sounds like a charging fault with alternator
