2003 Vauxhall Zafira engine dying

My engine dies with no shudder or warning, has happened twice now and can't get it restarted. I have had a new battery and spark plugs, plus the black box to go with the plugs (unsure of name without finding paperwork) what could be the problem? It has petrol andput some more in to be on safe side, when it did start i had to keep the revs above 2 otherwise it would then shudder?
