2011 Vauxhall Meriva service light not going off

Car: Vauxhall Meriva
Year: 2011
Variant: 1.7ctdi
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
The service light on my meriva stays on when started in the morning. Drive for about 6 miles restart and it goes off and stays off. Does not seem to be temperature related, any ideas???

Tried resetting the light ?

Thank you for that but does not cure problem, still comes back next day!!! Has been suggested elsewhere that garage corrupted system resetting it with non Vauxhall diagnostic tool.

Was the engine oil and filter changed ? Dont know how they could corrupt the system as no diagnostic tool needed to reset , any one can do it . Have you had the fuel filter changed ?

If there was a service fault ie blocked filter surely that would generate a fault code. The service light only indicates service interval times

Might be the case , but wouldn't be a blocked filter , if so it wouldn't start . Was the engine oil and filter changed ? Feel free to disregard suggestion

Oil and filter changed plus flushing oil. Its a low mileage cR, about 5000 a year.

Whether it fixes it or even if not related , I would change your fuel filter . Has this started from when service was carried out whenever that was ?

I forgot to say there are no fault codes logged

Hi this has been going on for about 2 years, started after car was serviced by usual garage who I was confident in. Since then been serviced by s smaller garage who I also trust. Have now reset service indicator to 100% for the umpteenth time, will see what happens tomorrow, thank you for your help.

Hi Roger,

I have a similar problem. Light goes on when the engine is cold, after driving it for a while, the light goes off (after restarting). Did you find out what causes it?

Finally cured!!! There were no codes showing when checked but when a better diagnostic tool was tried it found a pre heater on no 2 cylinder was defective. Seems strange that service light shows for engine fault codes

It's your spark/glow plugs. I had the same issue, only I was getting an additional system code p307e, which is glow plugs circuit low. I tested the vaultage and one was slightly off so I put a new one in and the service light went off and has stayed off.
