Service light not going off

2011 Vauxhall Meriva 1.7ctdi
Car: Vauxhall Meriva
Year: 2011
Variant: 1.7ctdi
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Serviced the vehicle before Xmas 2020, and reset the service light, all OK,
Then in mid January it started to stay on in the morning after starting, and won't go off until I have driven about 10.miles,then if I stop and restart the engine the light will go off, but next day just the same, I have tried many time to reset the service light, but the light stays on.
Any ideas please??
Many thanks

You changed engine oil with the correct type / grade and filter , plus fuel filter ?
Answered Feb 6, 2021 (3 years ago)
Changed all but the fuel filter

Is the method you use to reset plus confirming on doing so ? Well worth changing the fuel filter , especially if not been done in a while

Yes it say 100% when I set it, so I will try changing the fuel filter,, is there a sensor in the fuel filter linked to the service light??,
Will try that though, it might have to wait until the weather is a bit dryer,
Thanks for the advice

Hi there still having problems with my meriva dash service light not going out, have since recharged my oil ,filter ,fuel filter .pollen filter and air filter, and reset the service light to 100%,,still comes back on when the engine is cold ,if I go for a 5/6mile drive ,turn the engine off ,say to go shopping ,when we return to the car and start it the light goes out and stays out for quite as while, until the engine cools down again ,have been for a longish run up the motorway for 40 mins keeping a steady 60/70mph ,
Get back home turn off the engine then restart ,the light goes out leave it till next morning, it's on again
Please does anybody have any ideas ,,
Many thanks

One thing you can check is the battery voltage after lying overnight . Two min check with a voltmeter . A low battery can give all sorts of electrical glitches especially if weak cells or a low condition .Once driven for a while the alternator will replenish the battery to a certain extent but never enough . But if weak cells it wont really hold a full charge and will drop overnight . Most fast fit centres and the likes of Halfords will LOAD test your battery F.O.C while you wait and worth checking your alternator charging rate at the same time , again 2 min job .

No disrespect , but I learned to my cost very early in my apprenticeship as a mechanic , never to assume or rule
out anything in regard to cars . Since then my motto has been check and eliminate any possible causes rather than assume . Feel free to ignore . Out of curiosity , what was charging rate ?

Was about 13.2 volts I have one of those gadgets you put on the battery and it lights up various lights for the voltage and I always check it with my volt meter ,at the same time which was between 12.9/13.6 volts
