Heaters not working

2010 Vauxhall Meriva 1.4 SE Turbo(120PS)
Car: Vauxhall Meriva
Year: 2010
Variant: 1.4 SE Turbo(120PS)
Categories: Leaks & Noises
Our car's heating stopped working 2 weeks ago after working perfectly before. It seems the car itself does heat up as we can see it on the gauge which is working but it's not producing any heat.
It's under warranty (though that does not count for much these days) and it's booked in for tomorrow but we noticed this afternoon that the heating came back on after having not worked for two weeks.

It seems it could well be the thermostat but with it seemingly now intermittent I am not sure what to expect?

First thing to check would be coolant level .
