Burnt Out Clutch

Vauxhall like all other car manufacturers take the stance that if it is a faulty / defective part then it will be covered under warranty.Unless you can prove that a centre plate worn down to rivets was caused by a fault with clutch assembly or other defect , they normally wont entertain a claim.The only other way is if they make a contribution towards the repair or accept responsibility and the cost as a " company gesture " Unless you can find evidence of faulty clutches / flywheels or possibly modified parts concerning this , you face a battle to get recompensed . Best of luck , like to hear outcome of this .

Can anyone explain to me why the Insignia was awarded the 2009 "Car of the Year Award"? The more I read about VX faulty DMFs and clutches, the more I despair. Pity the senior management didn`t share the same attitude
and stopped playing the "wear and tear" get out of jail free card. Perhaps the court may view things slightly differently.

I wonder how long the experts would say a clutch should last if the worst drive imaginable were driving the car?

Driven properly a clutch should last at least 100k miles. My old cav didn't have a new one in 150k miles. So, I imagine even with the poorest driver it would be difficult to destroy a clutch like that in less than 4k miles.

My Dad experienced the same problem with his Vauxhall Insignia 1.8 Exclusive. He only done 6300 miles before the vehicle broke down. It was taken to Vauxhall dealer with all familiar consequences, that is it's his own fault and hence he is to pay £1600.00. Dealer wants to know nothing and so do Vauxhall Customer Care Team. He has been driving for over 40 years and never had similar problem with other cars, let alone a nearly new with such a low milage.
I would be very grateful if you could advise whether you managed to resolve the issue?
Any relevant advise will be highly appreciated.

I have had the same problem burnt out clutch on a 2009 sports tourer with 20'000 on the clock and looking at a 1600 pound bill. Thanks vauxhall I should of stayed with my Subaru
