Vauxhall Insignia - Information display fails and car will not start

2009 Vauxhall Insignia 2.0D 130 SE
Car: Vauxhall Insignia
Year: 2009
Variant: 2.0D 130 SE
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi all

I have a Vauxhall Insignia 2.0D 130 SE which is a Jul '09 reg.

since the 1st month of picking up the car the information display which shows time/date/temp/cd/ect keeps going off. There are other issues as well such as usually if the radio is on and you take the key out then it should auto switch off but it stays on. The car also will not start at times due to the battery being dead.

It has been in and out of the garage every other month for the last year and had various "fixes" including new CD and computer updates.

The latest is apparently there is a 2 amp drain on the car even when the key isn't in the ignition and nothing is turned on.

Been told it needs a new dash loom and fuse box which will take upto 8 weeks to come in and be installed, so the car is currently in bits at my local dealers.

Has anyone else had this issue and has it been resolved? I am at my wits end with this now as I just seem to be getting told one thing after another.

Don't think it helps this is my 2nd Insignia as the 1st car was swapped out after it suffering an engine fault and nearly causing a serious crash on the motorway when my wife was taking our 6mth and 3 year old boys out for the day. And it had the above issues as well!!

Have you questioned why it's going to take 8 weeks to get part ? Also have you contacted Vauxhall customer services about the faults and your concern with car ?

There is an issue with getting the parts. Been dealing with Vauxhall Motors directors office. Andy Gilson marketing and customer experience director email me a great offer....they will fix my car in Luton 200 miles away instead of my local dealers... Not sure why that is a great offer though but said ok as not sure I had a choice.

because it will be fixed quicker

Why will it be quicker? They are currently saying they can't grantee I will get it back before NY were as garage said this side of NY. I put this down to Christmas shut down.

Do you know of anyone having this electrical issue and did the loom and fuse box fix it?

They seem to be doing what is needed to help you and resolve fault . Take it they have given you a courtesy car whilst your own is off road ? If so , cant see why you shouldn't let them have car at Luton as long as required to examine , repair , test car .

Hello,I have the info display problem on my 09 insignia. Seemed to start when I had a software update. The radio stays on when I turn the key and take it out. Also, the temperature has disappeared from the display. If I turn the radio off the display screen goes completely black. When try to access the config menu it says 'with ignition only'. Also, when the seatbelt alarm is activated it wont turn off, and chimes for about 10 minutes.

I've had this problem for 5 months, it gets fixed but goes again a few weeks later.

Did you manage to sort yours out?

We are having the same problem. Battery drains, no time or temperature is displayed on the dashboard and the radio stays on when the key is taken out of the ignition. It's going in for a service next week, I'll see if they say anything.

Also, does anyone have an irregular indicator tick? Mine has a 5 second delay when you turn the indicators on and then instead of being an "tick tock tick tock" sound, it sort of goes "ticktick tock tick tock ticktick" and then continues when you turn them off. I initially thought it may be a dead bulb, however, I checked them, and they're fine. Anyone having this as well?

I have had the same problem with my 09 plate,
I have had the silver box changed 4 times and a/con module changed once.
Contacted customer services last yr after the 3rd attempt to repair problem they gave me 100 pound gift voucher, it then happened twice since then have contacted them again they have offered me another 150 pounds towards a 300 pound extended warranty, \I am not going to take it and also the cd unit was replaced about 3 weeks ago and I think that it has started to play up again, the radio will not hold the stations that you preset into the head unit over night it seems to loose it's memory, the people I am speaking to say that they will repair the problem my concerns are the warranty is up at the end of may and I now it will go again, I told them that they are fixing the problem but not the cause of the fault,I don't think it's fair to have someone on the other end of a phone that doesn't now what they are talking about. I am thinking about a solicitor now to give me any advice.Did they sort your problem out, soory to have gone on a bit

My Insignia has just developed this fault on one of the days this year when it was warm. Well around the 23 degree C mark which is warm for this year. Thought it may be that but the problem remains. As this has been occurring to others over the last 18 months I hope it has been resolved and will now be fixed. It's going in to the Vauxhall garage on Friday. Wish me luck.

Hi All,
I know the OP was a few years back but I'd love to know if any of you had your issue resolved as I am having the same issue now: No temp display on info display and radio does not turn off/on automatically like it did before.

This is just the latest in a host of issues I've had with this car recently. Last month the boost control valve went and has since been replaced. Then the rear driver side wheel bearing. We still have an ongoing issue of intermittent rough driving. Feels like driving in too high a gear. Mechanic ruled out clutch & flywheel, DPF and Mass Airflow metre. His latest theory is intermittent EGR valve issue (according to diagnostic). Going to try using a cleaner for that before looking into it more. Recently a whistle noise too *hoping it's not turbo*

Anyway would love to know about the info display fix.

Fed up with this car at this stage. AND just out of warranty. Sigh :(

reading all of these posts makes me worry, My Insignia recently developed the radio doesn't turn off and in automatically with the ignition. It drained my battery and had toget a jump start, when it restarted every thing was fine again. bad news a month later the fault has returned, also starting to hear indicator click problem also mentioned in associated post.
see lots of problems but no fixes.

ESP SERVICE ALSO FLASHES UP INTERMITENTLY SINCE LAST YEARS SERVICE.

Guess it time to sell.
