the car suddenly loses power and shudders . the car is under warranty and is going into have new valve. is this a problem that should have happened in a 16 month old car with 12000 on the clock . the problem has taken 3 visits and alot of our time and money to sort out.

Unfortunately if it was an intermittent fault it can be hard to diagnose , hence the different visits to locate fault .There are so many different electrical / mechanical parts due to increases in performance and emissions etc. etc . that you do get the occasion glitch with a part that fails , probably sooner than expected .At least they have now found the fault and are fixing under warranty .Is it the EGR valve ?

sounds like the egr valve is at fault,these valves can cause problems at any mileage depending on driving conditions

I have had a simler problem - see my posting hessitant drive / acceleration. I to have now been told that it is sticky exhaust valves and they need to be replaced. My car is only a year old and has only done 9500 miles.
I am going in to see the dealer today to make sure they change the valve springs as well as I dont see how sticky valves can suddenly happen as all the valve can do is wear down and run more free.
My car currently stuck in dealer waiting for head gasket that is on back order - makes me think this is a more wider problem than they would want you to think.
