2014 Vauxhall Insignia ignition key wont release

Key won't come out of ignition. Automatic. Have to push into neutral several times before releasing.

Could be ignition switch but being an automatic and from what you say . more likely to be wear and tear on gear lever mechanism . They changed it with a superseded part number because there was a problem with the mechanism / inhibitor switch .
