2011 Vauxhall Insignia code 3

Car: Vauxhall Insignia
Year: 2011
Variant: 1.8 petrol
I have a code 3 on my car it pops up after 20 mins in from driving. I have just had the water pump changed there is no leak but still getting code. The coolant doesn't seem to return to expansion tank all the time. Thinking maybe sticky thermostat any help would be much appreciated. Feel like im going round in circles.

Could try bleeding the cooling system though USUALLY not needed .

Thank you. I will try that only bought it 2 weeks ago. If this doesn't work could it be the thermostat or sensor do you think? Many thanks for your help.

It may be a sticking thermostat as suggested . You could also check that the engine cooling fan is coming on o.k and that the cooling system is not over pressurising .

Thank you will check that tomorrow. If thats ok i may go back to the garage i just hope it is nothing to do with the gasket :( Thanks very much for your help. Hopefully i can get this sorted.

A other possible cause could be the cyl head gasket .This can be verified / eliminated by carrying out a block test .
