Just got new timing belt and water pump fitted to my Vauxhall Insigna Exclusive158CDTI .
When driving home from garage I got a warning - coolant level low -top up. On inspection of the expansion tank I could barely see a drop in the recommended coolant level. It is only three days since the timing belt/water pump was fitted and now every time I take a drive the coolant warning appears - what could cause this to happen

If it's not losing coolant , may be faulty sensor . Could check coolant level first thing in morning when cold before starting the car and top up if needed and see how it goes .

Checked as you suggested and noted slight coolant lost. About 3ml coolant needed to Top up. Will be taking a short run this afternoon and will let you know how it goes !

Took car for run .Low coolant warning appeared again after travelling 4 miles.
Temp gauge showed normal. Could not find any signs of leak.

Take it back to garage for checking . They can pressure test the cooling system if needed and that should show any leak

We seem to be having same problem at minute our water pump was leaking had new one fitted no leaks now. However after driving half hour or so code 3 comes back on again. The coolant isn't returning to the expansion tank. It is really wierd.
