Engine Too Hot

2010 Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 CDTI SRI SAT NAV
Car: Vauxhall Insignia
Year: 2010
Variant: 2.0 CDTI SRI SAT NAV
Categories: Engine & Drivetrain
My engine takes less than 5 minutes to go from stone cold to 90 degrees , is this normal ? I have had it checked out and every thing is as it should be, it doesn't go above that but I only use it to get to work 8 miles from my home . next week I am going on holiday in it towing our caravan all the way to Cornwall so I would like to know if there could be a problem before we set off . Thanks .

Modern engines are designed to reach and operate at a higher temperature than say older drivers are used to.
Helps with fuel consumption and engine life.
If you were to look at the stamp on a thermostat you'd see 88 degrees,
that means the 'stat doesn't even open until 88 so your only going up 2 degrees!
As to how it will perform towing remains to be see.
But on the onset I wouldn't be worried.
Doesn't mean your eye will be on the gauge all the journey!
Which is a good thing in my book.
