Could be tyre noise...

I have the same problem. The rear tyres were "stepped", also known as "feathered" on the tread, and the car was bouncing about. I had a 4 wheel alignment done (ATS £65)and the tyres swopped front to back.
The alignment was way out, probably caused the tyre wear. Now a nice smooth ride but very loud tyre noise from the front stepped tyres.
