Loss of power and whooshing noise from under the bonnet

2009 Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 TDI 160 SRI
Car: Vauxhall Insignia
Year: 2009
Variant: 2.0 TDI 160 SRI
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
My car has lost power, it drives ok and there are no warning light at all, it will still do 70mph but takes a long time to get there. When you accelerate you get a whooshing noise from the front end, if you dip the clutch the noise goes so its only doing it under load.

Also its drinking diesel like there is no tomorrow (£20 to go 60 miles).

Any ideas?

Almost forgot its covered 83K miles..
