Gear Stick lifted out & Black plastic trim around gear stick cracked.

I was waiting at a set of traffic lights ,when l engaged the gear ,the gear stick lifed out, l gently pushed it back down,,this happend twice,,an then l noticed that the black plastic trim was damaged,,has any body else had either of these problems.
